Hi, this may be a little OT, apologies if so.

So we control windows update via Group Policy to install every day at 6am on our open access machines here, what I want to be able to do is force an update manually when i'm testing etc but I can't find a way to do this.

In XP I could do wuauclt /detectnow and force and installation as an admin.

In Vista if I go to Windows Update it just says your settings are controlled by Policy and I can't force it.

Is there a way to force it to do what I want manually?

Thanks

Dave
