hi,

i've got a problem with internet explorer 8 on windows server 2008/2008 r2.

our primary server environment consists of windows server 2003 boxes and the
majority of them have ie7/8 installed. we have recently began to use 2008
and 2008 r2 servers.

i have noticed in the ie configuration on these new servers that when i try
to configure a proxy server, the entire dialog box is greyed out with the
'automtically detect settings' box checked.

on all of our 2003 servers that are running ie 7 and 8 this is not a
problem. it is only effecting 2008/2008 r2 servers. to throw something else
into the mix, we are still using a gpo with the ie6 admin template. this gpo
is linked to the ou all the 2003/2008/2008 r2 servers are in.

i've looked at the gpo settings and can't work out why the strange behaviour
would be happening. can anyone shed some light for me?

daniel.
