The GPTALK mailing list is where you can send and receive email related to Windows Group Policy. You must subscribe to the list to send and receive mail from the list. The purpose of the list is to provide a forum for asking and answering technical questions related to Group Policy. Hi all,



For some reason I have in the back of my mind that a domain computer
will check for updates every x hours as stipulated by the GPO setting
"Automatic Updates detection frequency" OR at every reboot.



Am I making this reboot part up?



Basically I don't want my clients to wait the default 22 hours but, as
we shut down all workstations at night, if the reboot fact is true, then
it'll happen every morning which suits me fine.

I don't believe this happens at boot up but I could be wrong. Even if it
doesn't you could very easily use a startup script to kick this off on a
reboot. There are also lots of ways to do it remotely if the need
arises. The following blog has some nice examples:
