| Dear all,
Most of our application has reports. The clients are complaining about the print feature in the reports which is not working because of the ActiveX download policy. They Cant install ActiveX on the local machine because of permission. Can any one tell me how to solve this problem through GP.
Regard, Mohammed M. Azam

| Mohamed,
I would try is to determine if the issue is with Internet Explorer settings or with the fact that the user is not part of the power users or administrator group.
It may be as simple as adding that site into the trusted sites list (using GPO or manually) and using the IE active x settings for that security zone.
Otherwise if it is a security group restriction you may need to find a way to run a script that elevates the user and installs the active x object.
All depends on the actual add-in- maybe there is a way to install the add-in at the computer level.
I would start by 1st finding a way to get this done manually and then see if GPO is the best option to push the change out.
Hope that helps,
Omar

| What OS are you running on the client? IF it's Vista/7, there are some additional GPO's that you can use for ActiveX controls. If it's XP, you'll have to either do it manually, packaged or what I have done is to deploy the controls via GPO. It requires using the UseCoInstall key telling IE to look to AD for published applications and you have to repackage your ActiveX control into an advertised MSI but it does work.
