I happened to see an article at Group Policy Center (www.grouppolicy.biz) this morning that a hotfix has been released to fix an issue where group policy settings controlling IE new tab page default behavior doesn't apply correctly for Win 7 and Win 2008 R2. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=980959 Seems a little odd to me that MS would release a client side fix, as opposed to just fixing the munged entries in Inetres.admx, but whatever works I suppose. I spoke a little too soon. The hotfix will fix the local Inetres.admx (in c:\windows\PolicyDefinitions) entries on any system it is applied to. The hotfix will not modify the file in the central store though. If you happen to be using the central store functionality in your domain, you will need to manually copy a fixed Inetres.admx file into Sysvol.
