| I just want to say thanks to you all. I finally got my thesis done on Group Policy and it's time to head for new adventures. You all have been a great help! I don't think I could've made the new implementation without your help. I am flying to Toronto next friday (April 30th) with a temporary work permit, so if any of you work there and are intersted in hiring me, please email me Anyway, one more time, THANK YOU!

And here's the Abstract of my thesis if any of you are intersted:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This thesis concerns the centralized management of Windows operating system settings using Windows Group Policy technology. The goal of the thesis was to find out how this particular technology could be used more efficiently in the local area network of AB Inc. As a result, a new Group Policy implementation was created based on the research.
The objective of the thesis was to get a greater number of operating system settings managed through Group Policy technology, so that administrator would not have to go through each computer, one by one, when configuring the settings. With the help of Group Policy technology, the computers would receive these settings automatically when the computer starts and the user logs in. The technology also forces the settings onto a computer, so that the end user is not able to change the centrally configured operating system settings. This way the whole environment could be made more standardized.
The work was divided into two phases: research and implementation. In the research phase the first thing was to familiarize myself with the technology and the improvements it had gone through, and to find out whether these improvements could be used in the company’s current environment. In the second phase, a new Group Policy implementation was created and the technology used more efficiently than earlier. Both of these phases were largely based on literature and online articles provided by professionals specialized in Group Policy technology.
As a result, a new Group Policy implementation was created for the company, where a greater number of operating system settings was managed with Group Policy technology. In the new implementation, a large number of Group Policy settings and technological improvements were utilized. Most of these were not used prior to this. These settings were put to use, because during the research phase it had became clear that it was possible to utilize these setting in the company’s current environment. This way it was possible to control a larger number of operating system settings with Group Policy technology. Utilizing Windows 7 -operating system in the company’s computers in the near future was also taken under consideration.
The final results regarding the company’s new Group Policy implementation cannot be generalized. The goal was to plan and create an implementation which would best suit the company in question. It was an individual case which cannot be generalized. The results regarding the technological improvements and the experts’ recommendations used while planning the company’s new implementation on the other hand can be generalized and transferred to other Group Policy -environments.
