There might some type of exclusion you could add in the policy, I haven't played with that one... But look up 1E.com or Adaptiva's power management tools. They both are really good and best of breed in that space. The issue we have is that our researches have a tool called condor, which is a distributed computing thing which uses spare power across campus to do computational stuff. It only runs when no user is on the machine but we are finding the power saving still kicks in anyway so it isn't able to detect something in process. So is it possible to change what windows things is an idle machine via policy (or any other method).
