| Hi ,
is it correct that the default domain policy and the domain controller policy must be the origional ones created when the domein is set up something to do with unique GUIDs or can these simply be deleted and new ones set up ?
thanks ROnnie

| Be VERY careful about running dcgpofix...especially if you have an Exchange environment. Exchange makes changes to your Default Domain GPO. Other applications may do this, as well. dcgpofix should only be run as a last resort, in my opinion. (I have done this before and caused more problems than I fixed.) :-)
The better option, if you are having problems with one or both of the default GPOs, is to restore the files from backup.

| Ronnie- To answer this question specifically, there is a "special" role in the two default GPOs that ship in AD. You cannot and should not delete them. In particular the DDP plays a special role in enforcing domain account policy and the "well-known GUIDs" are a key part of that.
Hope that helps.
