Hi all

I need to install a application like Skype to about 60 pc's. I was wondering if this can be done via GP or do you know of any tool i can use to deploy this software to the pc's from a centrall point please?

Thanks for your help

If Skype is an Windows Installer packaged app, I would guess that is the case, then you can easily deploy it using Group Policy Software Installation (GPSI).

1) Create a GPO (filter/link the GPO in a way that it only applies to the users/computers where you want the software),

2) Add the Setup files to a network share, DFS preferably

3) Under the Software Settings node, for the user or computer node, depending on if you want to target certain computers or wherever the users logon, add the package using the full path to the MSI file

4) Let the magic of GP happen...

Also consider the following:

1) GPSI installs only during GP Foreground processing, i.e. boot/logon, and of you have fast boot optimization enabled you might not get the application the first boot, try a GPupdate /sync to test that it works.

2) The users/computers need access to the setup files for obvious reasons, this means especially for computers that you might need to add Domain Computers or similar to the access list for the share/files .
