HI darren,

Long time no see. I have a question to the group.

The ICt provider at the company i'm currently working has requested an AD schema update to allow wireless settings be administered through gpo for the distribution of WPA2 settings.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727029.aspx#ECAA

As we have the policy that no vista machines or windows 2008 servers are in allowed our network yet, i have some questions to anyone with this experience.

*
Has anyone performed this shema update?
*
Can you manage the wireless gpo through 2003 server or xp (workaround) ?
*
Has anyone upgraded their forest to windows 2008 after first applying this shema update, and did it pose problems for Ad ?

Hope anyone has some experience?

Greetings

Schillebeeks Bart

What's funny is that I actually blogged about this in 2007 and completely forgot about it:

Bottom line is that in order to see WPA2 as an option, you need to use Vista or Server 2008 to edit the policy.

This fixed the ability to view the wireless object. (registering the dll)

Is there any way to add wpa2 as one of my network authentication options?

Not sure if that patch adds the ability to edit wireless policy from XP but if not, I have documented the correct DLLs to register on my site at www.gpoguy.com/faqs.htm <http://www.gpoguy.com/faqs.htm> .

Just search that page for "wireless policy".

On a Wireless Network Policy, on the network authentication drop down box how do I get wpa2? As of right now all I see is open, shared, wpa, and wpa-psk. Also what dll do I need to register on my xp box so I can view this policy object?

Thanks,
Scott
