The GPTALK mailing list is where you can send and receive email related to Windows Group Policy. You must subscribe to the list to send and receive mail from the list. The purpose of the list is to provide a forum for asking and answering technical questions related to Group Policy. Any question is fair game as long as it is related to Windows Group Policy. Hey all, I have done package deployments before however, I am trying something a little different and I am having issues with it. I have an MSI file for a messenger installer (Spark to be exact). What makes this one different is that I need to target it towards specific people. I am using a GPO that has a package setup in the user configuration settings as "assigned." What I am used to doing, is a computer configuration where a package is set to "assigned." When the user configuration based gpo is targeted to an OU (or group) it drops a package that looks like an application in the "Add/Remove Programs" area, but the only thing available is to remove it and there are no details about the app. It never appears to actually install anything. This is a Windows 2003 Native domain and the machines that I would like to install to are all WinXP Sp2 or better. In the event log I see two possibly related events: Source: Application management Description: Changes to software installation settings were applied successfully. Source: Application managementL Description The assignement of application Spark from policy <SparkPolicyName> succeeded.
