Your syntax references the msi for acrobat pro rather than acrobat reader.

I think from memory that the msi is acroreader.msi.

Subject: RE: [gptalk] Updating Installation Point for Adobe Acrobat Reader 9.1.1

All,

Adobe released updates for their security vulnerability yesterday and I wanted to patch my installations out there. I used GPO to install Adobe Acrobat Reader 9.1, and am trying to apply the update (.msp file).

The syntax in the document (attached) doesn’t seem to be accurate, and I keep getting the MSI installer window after basically meaning that there is a problem with my syntax.

I think it would be nice if you could use the “Upgrades” tab within the Software Deployment GPO object to apply patches, but no such luck J

I can only assume once I can actually update the installation path, I have to create a new software deployment task so that the update gets pushed. The goal is to be able to update existing installations from 9.1 to 9.1.1, as well as have new machines that come on the network get a full 9.1.1 installation.

I don’t have the luxury of any other installation options, such as SMS, etc, so this is my best option. Syntax is below, any help is appreciated:

msiexec /a "\\Distribution point_Computer\Distribution Point Share\Managed_Distribution_

Application\ AcroPro.msi" /p "\\Source_Computer\Source_Share\Managed_Source_

Application\patch_file"

Here is the link for the update too

Had to remove the attached .PDF because it made the message too big.
