| Hi guys,
I am not able to understand why my screensaver policy is not getting applied. i have copied the .SCR file on all users desktop and have configured the screensaver policy for same...
Some of my users are not able to see the screensaver after 10 Min. as what i have defined in GP. When I start the GP result wizard from GPMC I am getting access denied error, though i have enterprise admin rights and running GPMC from DC.
Can u guys please guide me how to troubleshoot this...

| ok, so at the XP desktops, logon as an administrator and type gpresult at a command prompt.
Examine the list of policies being applied, do you see the policy listed that contains the screensaver settings?

| After logging through Domain Administrator, When I run gpresult it simply giving me error.
*ERROR: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.*
I have checked the Event Viewer and found below events
Event Type: Error Event Source: Userenv Event Category: None Event ID: 1090 Date: 7/3/2009 Time: 2:15:50 PM User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Computer: PC1 Description: Windows couldn't log the RSoP (Resultant Set of Policies) session status. An attempt to connect to WMI failed. No more RSoP logging will be done for this application of policy.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp
Event Type: Error Event Source: Userenv Event Category: None Event ID: 1041 Date: 7/3/2009 Time: 2:15:49 PM User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Computer: PC1 Description: Windows cannot query DllName registry entry for {CF7639F3-ABA2-41DB-97F2-81E2C5DBFC5D} and it will not be loaded. This is most likely caused by a faulty registration.

I have also tried below steps
cd /d %windir%\system32 regsvr32 /n /I userenv.dll cd wbem mofcomp scersop.mof gpupdate /force
Still no luck..
Thanks for follow up...

| Is the Domain Admin account (or Domain admins) actually a member of the admin group on the client? Just wondering if its been removed as part of some restricted groups configuration you have?

| Run a copy of ProcMon from here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx as you run through those steps again. You should be able to track the access denied errors and figure out which process is failing under which account name. Sounds like its the security configuration of the client is causing this to fail.

| Thanks Mike for your follow up... I got the root cause of the problem.... I have applied security policies through Domain Policy where i have configure the services settings ( Refered from here http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=1090&eventno=1881&source=Userenv&phase=1%3E)
Tried with gpresult and now getting all the reports...Waiting for the reply from desktop engineers..
Thanks and regards,
Andy
