Hi All

We've recently changed our default mail client from OE to OL. We are
setting the default mail client using IE Maintenance via group policy.
Some users are complaining that their default mail client is
switching back to OE occasionally. gpupdate /force sometimes fixes
the problem.

What's really weird however, is if we run RSoP, it says OL is the
default client, but if we go to IE > Programs - it says OE is the
default client. Does anybody have any ideas why the results are not
consistent at all ?

Thanks
M

Occasionally IE Maintenance loses its way in the universe. As a general rule, I like to turn on the policy under Computer Config\Admin Templates\System\Group Policy\IE Maintenance Policy Processing that says to always apply even if nothing has changed. I find that makes IE Maintenance a bit more reliable. But in general I think you would be better off trying to find a way to modify whatever registry entry controls that, outside of IE Maintenance.

Thanks Darren

Yea, I've always found IE maintenance policies to be a bit flaky also.
And as far as I know, the one in Win 7 is still the same as the w2k
days - wonder why they're not updating it.

Anyway, I'll give your suggestion a go.

Thanks again !
